Bomb Threat at Southeast Christian
Police say the person who called in a bomb threat to Southeast Christian Church was one of the congregation’s own members.
Michael Schad pleaded not guilty to charges of terroristic threatening Wednesday morning.
Police say he told them he put bombs in Southeast Christian Church, where he’s a member, and Lampton Baptist Church.
Officers didn’t find anything.
Schad’s attorney says his client is taking medication for bipolar disorder.
Schad was released from jail on the condition that he visit the VA Hospital and stay away from Southeast.
How would your church respond?

Thanks for making aware of this… I heard more about it later (this is my home church)…
This is a really sad situation… The man is in a small prayer group with my mom and about 6 other people (men and women), and has been for 5-8 years now… he’s been on various psychotic type drugs for his bi-polar disorder has he’s struggled with this for 20+ years now… The VA hospital doesn’t give him the attention he needs to control this stuff and he routinely has these really bizarre swings… Anyway, during one of these swings lately is when he called the church. It’s so bizarre… He may not have had any idea he did it or seen a tv show that put the thought in his head to do what he say on tv or whatever.. there’s no rhyme or reason to it since he has little recollection during some of these swings… very very sad… our church and that prayer group are his life and this man is a believer and has been part of our church for years and years… it’s clearly the meds talking but it’s still a situation that has to be viewed as quite serious… Anyway, he’s in a different hospital now being reviewed etc… Prayers for him are appreciated.
