My friend Scott Williams has a new book out that I think every church leader should read. Â It’s entitled Church Diversity: Â Thoughts about the Most Segregated Day of the Week.
Scott writes:  Church diversity on the surface may not initially seem like a felt need foreveryone. If we dig down deep below the surface and get to the root of the mat-ter, we should understand that “reaching all people for Christ†must be a feltneed for the Church, and it can be a beautiful reality. Church diversity is aboutchallenging ourselves to move beyond “what is†to “what will be.†I like whatthe Bible says in Proverbs 16:2, “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, butmotives are weighed by the Lord.
â€It’s not about the words, stories, controversy, title, or subject matter of thisbook; it’s about the motive. The motive is to truly honor God by developing amovement of people who are willing to do whatever it takes to have His willdone on earth as it is in heaven. Every time a group of visionaries begins theprocess of pointing toward the future and what will be, they begin to smile thesmiles of tomorrow, today. That’s what we have the opportunity to do; we canbegin smiling tomorrow’s smiles today. Smile, laugh, and imagine “what willbe†as you read the pages of this book.
