STONED! Church Starts Service for Marijuana Users

A California church has started a new worship venue specifically targeting California’s medical marijuana community.

Marijuana is, after all, California’s largest cash crop; bringing in as much as $14 billion in sales each year into the state’s economy.

“There’s no church around geared toward the local drug community,” says Herman Monikker, pastor of Palo Alto Community Church.  ”We’re reaching out to people where they are.”

The new venue, aptly named “STONED” meets Sunday mornings at 11 at the church, located at 11250 San Marco Blvd. in Palo Alto.

“We were thinking about calling the venue “HEMP” but decided on “STONED” because of the obvious biblical ties.

Not everyone is excited about the new outreach, which encourages worshippers to light up during praise and worship.  ”What these people are doing is an abomination,” says Peter Smiley of the nearby Stallwart Baptist Church.

But Benjamin Stimied from Palo Alto loves the service.  The music rocks, the sermons are vivid, and the after service dessert bar is awesome.

To his critics, Pastor Monikker, says he usually sites John 8:7:  Jesus said “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to cast a STONE.”  That, Monikker says, usually leaves his critics speechless.

The comment about the after service dessert bar made me laugh out loud. The video truly does set the how story in perspective!

It is not about who has no sin cast the first stone. It’s about inciting people to do things that are not beneficial or profitable. If you try to take the pot away from them and they fight you to the teeth, then pot just became their God, it’s idolatry. In the words of the apostle Sha’ul(Paul), has messiah become an advocate of sin? God forbid.
I would never use the verse “cast the first stone the one without sin” as a means to justify my own sin. We all have sins, but we strive to live a holy(separated) life. Not condone sin as if it were the right thing to do.
The service should teach the people to be free of this bondage(I know because I was in bondage to it for years), to let go of idols, and not to encourage them to “light it up”.
I’m sorry, but there lacks a better understanding of messiah and relationship with the Lord.
Then again, this is me saying, I’m not quoting scripture.
