Word. Of. God.

Pretty amazing.  We are so blessed.

Check out this modern day tribe that, for the first time, got the new testament in their own language.

Sadly, some of these people know the word as well as we do, yet have not had a Bible in their own tongue.

Thoughts?

Todd

Big thanks to my friend Steve Miller for sending this my way!

The big two things I like about this video is primarily the excitement over the Scriptures and secondarily just how non-American and yet culturally fitting their Christianity is. The ongoing ministry of Jesus works in every tongue and in every tribe (literally in this case.)

“We have received it. We have held it in our hands. And we have placed it in our hearts. And we are rejoicing.”

Have WE done this? So very moving and convicting. Thank you for sharing this, Todd!

thank you for sharing this video. it reminds me of an old saying my grandmother loved, “What you do with this book will determine what God will do with you”

Their joy is overwhelming. Contagious. It’s the song of the Redeemed!
I cried when they sang, “Yes, Jesus loves me – the Bible tells me so!” Christ’s message is so simple, so piercing, so profound.
    Come, Holy Spirit, come!

I have had the joy of seeing this happen with a number of tribes in the early days of my ministry when I was in training with New Tribes Mission. Every single time the joy and excitement and often tears of those receiving God’s word written in their own tongue is over whelming to me.

Sometimes I feel selfish and spoiled when I look at my book case and have at least 10 different translations of the Bible, books about the Bible and books about books of the Bible…yet there are still thousands that don’t have one word of God’s word that they can pick up and read.

Praise God for this people group that now have God’s truth at their finger tips and I hope we remember that that’s the main thing. Yet still American Christians will complain when the sermon is to long or the music to loud, the AC was too cold and the pastor said something they didn’t agree with. To that I say…come with me on a short term mission trip with our ministry (Multiplication Ministries) and perhaps your attitude will change and then once again the main thing will become the main thing. “Christ for the world and His word is truth and the truth sets them free.

OK…my sermon is done. Amen…and Amen.
